Spanish trains -at least Renfe's trains- reached the highest level in punctuality according to 2000 informations. As much AVE as Local Trains, Great Lines or Regionals Lines reached averages near 100% in punctuality terms.

Punctuality in Renfe's lines is a fact. The company had in 2000 in all 1,306,393 passengers trains, the 98,1 per cent of them arrived to destinations with punctuality, only 19 trains out of every 1,000 were delayed.
News from the company about the punctuality are refered to passengers's trains (Local Trains, AVE, Great Lines and Regionals Lines). The highest level in punctuality was reached for 16,576 AVE trains (99,84%) and Local Trains, more than a million, reaching 99,14 per cent.

The AVE system's punctuality average was 99,82% in 2000. Shuttle service between Madrid, Ciudad Real and Puertollano had 5,331 punctuals circulations with 99,85%, whereas Long-Distance Lines between Madrid and Sevilla reached 99,8 per cent. Talgo trains in High-Speed lines between Madrid, Cadiz, Huelva y Malaga were punctuals 98,52% of 6,289 trains. Local Trains kept its objective. Renfe had 1,012,000 trains in eleven centers with Train Local services registering 99,14% of punctuality. Emphasize Madrid with 370.854 trains (98,95%) and Barcelona with 189,529 trains (98,98) and Bilbao with 169,088 trains (99,87%).

The punctuality average that 71,569 Renfe's trains reached in Great Lines was 95,52% in 2000. Levante (Madrid-Valencia-Alicante) and Mediterraneo (Barcelona-Valencia-Alicante) routes were the most punctuals: 96,8% and 97,1% respectively.
Euromed Line reached 97,23% and Alaris Line 97,99% in punctuality terms. 199,090 Regionals Lines trains got a average of 96,87% in 2000. About Regional net it is important to point out that the Regional Express service with 85,428 trains were running during the last year. The 97,38% arrived in time to destination. It's outstanding the punctuality average by trains between Galicia and Asturias route reached 98,53% or between Madrid-Soria-Aragon-Pamplona reaching 99,11%.
