THE NEW TALGO VII, SUBSTITUTE OF THE TRADITIONAL TALGO III
MADRID OFFICE
The Administration Council of Renfe approved the buying of 16 last generation Talgo VII trains recently, the most advanced in the company. These trains are able to develop a bigger velocity and are endowed with the best technnological advances. The total investiment will reach 11.000 millions of pesetas .
The trains knowns as Talgo III will be substituted by its brothers of the seventh generation.
The 16 Talgo trains will run the lines that joins Madrid with Alicante-where Renfe has now 14 daily services, 7 on each way-, Alicante with Gijón-2 daily services, one on each way-and Alicante with Santander-2 daily services too, one on each way-.
Moreover, the new Talgo trains are gifted with the movible rotating system (RD), that permits to the trains to run both on spanish wide rails and on international wide rails. This means that this material is the most suitable to make trips with the two kinds of rails, as it happens with the Taldo trains that runs from Madrid to Málaga and that uses the AVE rail until Córdoba, or that from Madrid travel to Cádiz and Huelva and uses the AVE rail too, but in this case until Sevilla. In the two cases, the Talgo trains go through an equipment named interchanger and adapt (without change or inconvenience for the passengers) the wide of their axles to the rail .
With the future Madrid-Barcelona High Velocity line, Renfe could install other interchagers of axles in strategic points as Zaragoza and this would permit to arrive from Madrid through Zaragoza to Pamplona or Logroño with these Talgo VII in two hours less than now.
The new trains will go through 23 spanish cities in which live more than five millions of people.
The Talgo Seventh Generation trains are going to replace the Talgo III, that still run in Spain and that are more than 20 years old. The fact is that Renfe can have more trains, moderner and faster makes the technicians to conclude that: in first place it wold be put in circulation a bigger number of seats, with a bigger request for the train in these lines, with an increase of the incomes and a improvement of the economic results of these lines. In second place, the time of the travel will improve in all the lines with this new material in service, because they are faster trains that are going to use a substructure that will be new or will be improved.
The new trains will begin to be built by Talgo inmediatly. The factory will deliver the first project in one year and a half. From this moment, Talgo will deliver the total of the trains in 11 months more. In this moment, that Talgo begins the building of the new material until the last delivery of the 16 trains, Talgo will have a big work during the next 29 months, nearly two years and a half.
Renfe will begin to replace the Talgo III in the middle of the 2000 year, when receives the first project of the new trains
CHARACTERS
