The Mexican Railway Company (TFM) has laid on the first shipment of 50 AC4400 engines built by the General Electric.

TECHNNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
These engines are clasified AC4400 because of the following:
AC: Because the traction motors placed in each axle works with alternating current, something very innovatory because need less maintenance and are more suitable that the others with direct current.
4400: Bacause they have a power of 4400 H.P.
In spite of the Mexican Raylway Company is a branch of the Kansas City Souther company (KCS), is the first that works with new motive force, but the main company, KCS, has the tendence of work with second hand motive force, something that is a very widespread custom since the company exists.
