UNAVOIDABLE TENSIONS



The tensions between the GIF and Renfe are probablely unavoidable. Furthermore, it is necessary to be ingenous to believe the good relationship which, between both public companies, it is tried to say that it is, because their interests and objectives aren't short-dated similar and the adjust of responsabilities is and will be very difficult.

In this context, it can't go unnoticed Miguel Corsini's announce, Renfe's president, who assured that the 350 km/h won't be a necessary requeriment to those manufacturers who want to go to the tender of the AVE Madrid-Barcelone. To say the truth, Corsini have reported that all the same it's rather evidence: the most important thing is the commercial speed of a train, and it isn't the rush speed. These are very well for the paraphernalia of the records, but for the passanger the most important is the whole time of the travel, and it isn't important how many kilometres it can circulate.

But this one, it is obvious to any expert into this sector, and it isn't politically obvious. It seems clear that the GIF wasn't ingenous betting for the 350 km/h on the tender, and it isn't coincidence that Renfe remembers us that the important fact isn't the rush speeds, but they are important the commercial speeds.

At the end -in the margin that the different political opinions could be good or bad to the most important manufacturers who will go to the tender- that is in play is a battle more of the war to decide who is going to be the boss into the Spanish railway next future. In this way, it isn't obvious and it is full of sense Renfe's reaction requiring its right, as operator, to decide the conditions of the trains which it is going to buy. Each shoemaker to each respective shoes... and my shoes are the trains, it seems Renfe's message to a GIF each time much important.

It isn't the first brush, and it won't the last one, into a difficult adjust process into which is in play the railway future in Spain.
