Los automotores diesel de la serie 592 son llamados popularmente "camellos" (al igual que los de la serie 593, muy similares) por las jorobas que se aprecian en el techo, destinadas a alojar los equipos de aire acondicionado.

The self-propelled diesel trains of the series 592, as the 593 series (very similar trains), are called populary "camels" because of the humps located at the top of these trains, whose function is to hold the air conditioning equipment.

Estos trenes, como los de la serie 593, se diseñaron para sustituir a los antiguos TAF, los trenes convencionales y los ferrobuses en los servicios regionales.
De la serie 593 se construyeron 62 unidades, que entraron en funcionamiento entre 1982 y 1984. Estos trenes son de diseño y construcción española, aunque se importaron algunos elementos importantes, como motores y transmisiones, aportados por Fiat.

Such trains, as the 593 series, were designed to replace the old TAF, conventional trains and railbuses into regional services.
They were buildt 62 units from the 593 serie, wich started running between 1982 and 1984. These trains were designed and buildt in Spain, although it was necessary to import some essential items, like engines and transmissions, all supplied by Fiat.
